Game recap

Written by AI from the game stats

Miami Eat controlled this one from wire to wire, building a steady lead and closing out a 68-50 win over Asanity. The gap was built on suffocating defense and efficient offense. Miami Eat punished Asanity's mistakes, forcing 15 turnovers while piling up 15 steals and 6 blocks. Miami Eat attacked the paint at a 17-of-31 clip (55%) and got hot from beyond the arc at 9-of-31 (29%). Asanity's only real fight came on the offensive glass, where they grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, but the second-chance points never flipped momentum. With Miami Eat protecting the basketball better in key stretches and Asanity bricking shot after shot, the lead ballooned past 15 and stayed there.

Stat Highlights: Miami Eat shot 26-of-62 (42%) overall and cashed 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Asanity managed just 20-of-71 (28%) from the field, 14-of-49 (29%) from inside the arc, and 6-of-22 (27%) from three. The defensive disparity was stark: Miami Eat posted 15 steals and 6 blocks compared to Asanity's 6 steals and 1 block. Player-5 owned the glass with 14 rebounds (13 defensive) plus 13 points, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. Player-15 added 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting with 5 boards and 4 assists. Player-88 led Asanity with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Player-10 chipped in 10 points and Player-26 added 9 on a tough 4-of-17 night.

Team takeaways

Written by AI from the game stats
Miami Eat
STRENGTHS
  1. Three positives from this boxscore for Miami Eat. First, the defensive rebounding was outstanding with 33 defensive rebounds, dominating second chance opportunities for the opponent and allowing us to push in transition. Second, our activity on the perimeter defensively was elite, generating 15 steals, which shows we were engaged and aggressive in passing lanes and disrupting their offense. Third, our two-point efficiency at 54.8 percent from inside the arc shows we executed our interior offense well, and our free throw shooting at 87.5 percent reflects poise and discipline at the line. The 20 assists also indicate the ball was moving and players were finding quality looks.
TO WORK ON
  1. Three areas for improvement. First, our offensive rebounding was anemic at only 8 offensive boards combined with the lack of putback opportunities we are leaving easy points on the floor. We need to emphasize crashing the glass and sending multiple bodies to the offensive boards in our offensive sets. Second, our three-point shooting at 29 percent on 31 attempts is below standard. We need to either reduce the volume of contested threes or generate cleaner looks through better off-ball movement and screening actions. Third, the 15 turnovers are too many and directly led to transition opportunities for the opposition. We need to tighten our ball handling, value each possession, and reduce the live-ball mistakes that fuel fast break points. Additionally, with only 4 fouls committed we may not be applying enough physical pressure defensively, we want to be aggressive without fouling but still set a physical tone.
Asanity
STRENGTHS
  1. Three positives from this boxscore for Asanity. First, the effort on the offensive glass was excellent with 16 offensive rebounds, showing relentless pursuit and second chance mentality that kept us in possession despite poor shooting. Second, our ball movement produced 16 assists indicating players were looking to involve teammates even when shots were not falling. Third, Player 5 delivered a dominant all-around performance with 14 rebounds including 13 defensive boards, 4 steals and 3 blocks, providing a huge interior anchor on both ends and setting the competitive standard for the group.
TO WORK ON
  1. Three areas for improvement. First, our overall field goal percentage at 28.2 percent is unacceptable. Too many forced and contested shots especially inside the arc where we went 14 for 49. We need to run more set plays, move the ball and players to get higher percentage looks rather than settling for tough pull-ups and contested drives. Second, we only attempted 8 free throws and made just 50 percent of them. We are not getting to the line enough, our players need to be more aggressive attacking the rim and drawing contact, and we need dedicated foul shooting reps in practice. Third, our interior defense and rim protection was essentially non-existent with only 1 blocked shot compared to 6 blocks allowed. Combined with only 6 steals we were not disrupting the opponent enough, we need to give more help, protect the paint and elevate our hands in the passing lanes. Shot selection discipline and finishing through contact must become practice priorities this week.
